Renault has revealed details of the all-new Clio range which will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September. The fourth generation Clio is only available as five-door hatchback.
Most obvious is a contemporary, curvy new look which really stands out. The front-end (reminiscent of the DeZir concept car) is an aerodynamic masterpiece highlighted by startling headlights and LED DRLs plus a bold interpretation of the Renault logo.
The silhouette is similarly ground-breaking with a dynamic look accentuated by disguised rear door handles, curvy wheel arches filled with the wheels and a sporty low ride height.
Inside is a new dashboard sculptured like an aircraft wing featuring a digital speedometer while elsewhere piano black trim highlights give a classy look for Renault’s volume selling hatchback.
And the new Renault Clio can be connected thanks to the optional integrated ‘R-Link’ tablet with an 18cm touchscreen with voice command, Tom Tom navigation and downloadable apps from the Renault R-Link store. One app provides engine sound effects linked to your engine.
Power comes from improved petrol and diesel engines.
Big news on the petrol-powered front is Renault’s all-new turbocharged 0.89-litre three-cylinder ‘Energy TCe 90’ engine which delivers 67kW/135Nm and is capable of fuel consumption as low as 4.3l/100kms. On the diesel front, there’s a new 67kW/220Nm version of Renault’s 1.5-litre dCi engine now with fuel saving ‘Stop&Start’.
Currently Renault Australia sells the sensational high performance Clio RS (absolutely one of the best hot hatches in the world) but the all-new Clio is headed our way for launch mid next year.
