Due for local launch later this year, the updated 2012 Toyota LandCruiser has debuted at the Brussels Motor Show ahead of European sales starting in March.
Styling changes are evident at the front with a large new bumper housing new fog lights and a new, large grille with chrome highlights. Headlights are also new with LED DRLs and round HID bi-xenon lights and wraparound indicators.
The side profile look shorter thanks to the new front bumpers and new rears plus new side moldings with chrome trim. And there are new-design 20-inch alloy wheels.
2012 Toyota LandCruiser also scores a re-designed rear-end with new combination lights which mirror the headlights’ cylindrical design, new indicator lights and a re-positioned reversing light.
Inside, Toyota designers have ramped-up the luxury look/feel of the latest LandCruiser with a new dashboard design featuring white backlit instruments, new switchgear, a new audio panel and piano black/silver trim highlights (high gloss wood is also available). Seats are trimmed in perforated leather and the front gain a cool air function and active headrests.
Rear seats score a 40:20:40 split with a manual sliding mechanism which allows each section to move through a range of 90mm.
Under the bonnet, Toyota’s superb 4.5-litre V8 turbo-diesel now complies with Euro5 emissions standards thanks to a diesel particulate filter and new piezo injectors. The changes have also improved throttle response for the 200kW/650Nm V8.
Changes underneath too for better off-road agility including the introduction of Toyota’s ‘Turn Assist’ system which, at speeds below 10km/h brakes the inside rear wheel when turning for tighter cornering.
Four external cameras provide a view of what’s happening outside and a Tyre Angle display has been added to the Multi-terrain Monitor.
Toyota Australia will announce local specifications and prices closer to launch.
