Information and images of the new Suzuki Swift, which is set to make its official debut in 2017, has been leaked in an early brochure by some automotive forum-goers in India. We also get an insight on range of powertrains and other specifications and a picture of pricing.
Aside from the visual upgrades that’s most immediately apparent from the brochure, an interesting tidbit from this is unauthorised reveal is the mild hybrid drive system in the new Swift, badged as the Hybrid RS variant, likely to share the same 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with their SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) system as the Baleno. Though, it’s unclear how many regions this particular powertrain will be offered in,
Another find is that the next Swift will indeed be offered in two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive varieties, with the front-driven versions getting a 6-speed automatic while those with the hybrid drive system and/or the all-wheel drive will have their engines mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
Back to that exterior design, the leaked brochure corroborates the previous leak earlier this year which revealed the Swift’s front end, with a bold front grille that has a stripe running across it, flanked by a pair of swept back headlamps.
The presence of this brochure alone indicates how close Suzuki is to a full reveal, which is expected to be followed closely by a global rollout to showrooms.
