Australians will soon be able to own an Alpina vehicle much more easily now through the Melbourne-based The In Motion Group (trading as ALPINA Automobiles – Australia), as confirmed by the BMW Group.
The company has been appointed by ALPINA Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH & Co. KG as the official importer and distributor for their vehicles which will initially be available via their showrooms in Doncaster and Bundoora with plans to increase the dealership count in major metropolitan areas.
BMW Group Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Marc Werner, says he embraces the local introduction of the Alpina brand, citing the brand’s long-established history with BMW in producing tailored cars based on the Munich automaker’s models.
Patrick Fielding, General Manager of The In Motion Group, said: “ALPINA has earned a global reputation for producing highly individual cars that marry luxurious comfort and detailing with refined dynamic motoring.”
The first model to be offered from the Alpina range will be the B4 Bi-Turbo Coupe (based on the BMW 4 Series coupe), eight of which are due to arrive in November as demonstrator cars at dealerships having just gone through ADR compliance and homologation for sale here.
Following the steady rollout of the B4 coupe, more Alpina models will follow such as the B4 Bi-Turbo Convertible as well as the BMW 3 Series-derived B3 Bi-Turbo Sedan and Touring models.
Of course, and as with all other Alpina models produced, both the B4 and B3 models headed here will have undergone significant modifications to the car’s drivetrain, exterior, interior, chassis and suspension. The result is a car that is truly set apart from the BMW vehicles upon which they are based, complementing their factory counterparts nicely.
All customer cars delivered to Australian buyers will be built to order with options a large array of trim and material options to make sure each car is bespoke to the preferences of their owner.
BMW and Alpina have always had a close relationship, and indeed work in tandem to make sure the cars that emerge from Alpina’s headquartes in Buchloe (near Munich) are the best cars they can be and remain tightly integrated as products from BMW despite the heavy degree of extra engineering applied to it by Alpina.
