Official pics have landed of the convertible Toyota 86 sports car which bows next week in Geneva.
Officially described as a ‘concept’, the fact is engineering development of the Toyota 86’s cabriolet version is already underway and we’d wager short-odds of a debut in production form later this year at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Featuring an electric-operating soft top, Toyota called on a designer in Mila, Italy to colour-coordinate the interior and exterior of the concept model. The result is contrasting white outside while inside is navy blue with contrasting gold stitching.
First a rear-drive sports car, now a rear-drive sports convertible…changes are afoot at traditionally conservative Toyota. All part of its ‘Fun To Drive. Again’ mantra championed by its race car driving chief Akio Toyoda.
