Today we learn that the Faraday Future SUV has a rear, and hasn't figured out high-res photos yet.
Mysterious American EV manufacturer Faraday Future has today dropped a new teaser photo of its “first production car,” an SUV designed to take on the Tesla Model X unashamedly.
Most striking of today’s teaser is the full-width rear light element, which complements the full-width front light element that it showed off yesterday. If they release an image of the car’s profile, maybe that’ll reveal a full-length light element, too. Also seen here is an offset-mounted rear radio antenna, and what appear to be cameras in place of side mirrors.
At present, camera-mirror systems are prohibited in the United States, and that raises questions on the feasibility of the Faraday SUV, since it’s supposed to be the brand’s first series production car. And if they can’t get that right, we wonder where else they may have blundered.
Faraday Future has also teased the wheels of their SUV (which, weirdly, were also camouflaged), fuelling speculation that the FF SUV might have hub-mounted motors rather than inboard-mounted ones like everyone else has. The need to ‘reinvent the wheel’ as it were is also a question, as it could add complexity and risk reliability.
In any case, we’re getting quite excited to see if the firm will take off, or land flat on its rear. Our previous report covered the ‘make or break’ nature of Faraday’s showing at CES. So now, we wait.
