Chinese company LeEco has unveiled their vision for a sleek and sporty pure electric sedan, the LeSee Pro, that’s loaded with autonomous tech.

It’s a watershed moment for the company, which also produces consumer electronics and is responsible for the inception and funding of Faraday Future, another EV-focused automaker that’s known for its secrecy within its brief existence.

The LeSee Pro, judging by its size and styling, is a clear stab at capturing the same market Tesla had ensnared with the Model S. So it’s rather fitting that it made its debut at a posh gathering in San Francisco, ground zero for the silicon valley set, and the market they intend to attack first.

At the unveil, and in following with the California motif, Hollywood even managed to step in - for better or worse. Michael Bay, responsible for the Transformer film series, made an appearance to announce that LeEco’s EV sedan will be making a cameo in the next movie. Again, for better or worse.

Following that aberration, the LeSee Pro, which is an evolution of the LeCee concept car that was brought to the Beijing Motor Show, was pitched as a springboard for LeEco’s unique business model to leverage autonomous capabilities with mobile telecommunications with digital content.

At the same event, LeEco also showed its own Android smartphone, the Le S3, due to be available to North American customers soon - nudging at the direction that they have in store for its vehicular ambitions.

So far, though, details on the LeSee Pro EV remain scarce, particularly surrounding its zero emissions powertrain. We do know that it will feature autonomous capabilities and an interior that can double up as an entertainment lounge - presumably to enjoy LeEco’s media library - that connects to the internet via the roof-mounted antenna.

Given its ties, it’s quite likely the car will also borrow heavily from Faraday Future’s electric drive systems and perhaps even be built with their modular EV platform.
