MINI has revealed that a new range of John Cooper Works accessories will soon be offered for the latest generation of the hatch, including engine tune upgrades, as well as JCW brakes, aero components, and interior trim additions.
These upgrades can be purchased soon by current owners of the F56-series MINI from authorised dealers, presumably beginning with those located in Germany - at the 2016 Essen Motor Show, where the unveil took place - as well as the marque’s country of origin, Great Britain.
However, due to powertrain constraints, only certain models with are eligible to have all the new accessories fitted. For example, owners of the hottest MINI hatch variant, the John Cooper Works edition, will not be able to get a further power bump on their car’s 170kW/320Nm output.
They are given the option of purchasing a new valve silencer system for their standard sports exhaust as well as a upgrade to a height-adjustable coil-over suspension system that can lower the car by 30mm at its most extreme setting.
For those with the less performance-oriented Cooper S (including the Convertible and Countryman, the JCW accessories would likely have more appeal as customers can pick and choose the ingredients to concoct their own variation of a hot MINI. All of the accessories on offer here are supported on the Cooper S 5-door and 3-door.
To kick it off, the JCW engine upgrade lifts power to 155kW (a 14kW bump) while other options such as the aforementioned uprated brakes, more aggressive front and rear bumper, roof spoiler, as well as the exhaust silencer are also available so long as the sports exhaust system was also purchased.
Further options to trick out the MINI are also available from the new JCW accessories catalogue, including a plethora of interior trim and exterior liveries. Pricing, curiously, has yet to be released, and the likelihood of it arriving in Australia is also up in the air.
