Nissan Australia have introduced a new limited run variant of their Navara pickup with just 500 units going up for sale. Called the N-Sport Black Edition, it comes as an upgrade over the top-spec ST-X Dual Cab 4x4 variant that - naturally - adds that visual edge to the ute.
Call it what you will - stealth, tactical, or sporty - the Black Edition is foremost distinguishable by its gloss black 18-inch wheels hidden within flared fender arches. But there’s yet more dark bits added, such as the bull bar up front, honeycomb grille, rear sports bar, and fog lamp finishes.
For good measure, there’s also some ‘Black Edition’ decals in case its weren’t yet obvious that these particular Navaras are that much more gussied-up over the standard variants. You’d be forgiven for thinking that the ‘Black Edition’ would come with only one obvious exterior paint option, but there’s actually three alongside the Cosmic Black - Brilliant Silver, Slate Grey (pictured), and Diamond White - though none would be seem off-message with the look it’s aiming for.
Richard Emery, managing director of Nissan Australia, said: “The N-SPORT Black Edition gives the Navara a tough looking make over. Black is all the rage at the moment and certainly makes the Nissan Navara ST-X Dual Cab stand out. With its aggressive but stylish look, and limited numbers, we think this will be a popular variant for Ute buyers.”
Under the bonnet lies the same 2.3-litre twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder motor that motivates every other variant of Navara, producing 140kW and 450Nm. And like the ST-X Dual Cab it’s based on, it’ll arrive with standard satellite navigation with 3D mapping through a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Aside from that, though, there don’t seem to be any interior changes to mention.
