Tesla Opens Flagship Store In Central Sydney

Tesla has opened its newest retail store (read: showroom) in Sydney located in Martin Place, near the heart of the city’s Central Business District. It’s a glamourous thing, all glass and metal melding with the grey concrete of the building’s shell.

The new store is Tesla’s third store in Australia, and given it’s prime placement, is viewed as the flagship in the electric car maker’s real world bridge to customers Down Under. Actually, by pure measurement, the new Sydney store is one of the largest Tesla showrooms in the world.

It covers two floors with over 500 square metres of room which is uses to display three Model S sedans as well as the car’s rolling chassis (not for sale, of course) that showcases the car’s underpinnings which houses the batteries, control units, and motor(s).

The design of the new store is one that’s quite airy, with its floor-to-ceiling windows which are due to necessity that, since there is no rear entrance, would need to accommodate the width and height of Tesla’s cars.

When Tesla sells a car, it could even be arranged to be on display within the new store and driven by customers right off the floor for everyone to see their new purchase. There should be ample space for at least a couple more cars, but due to the launch ceremony only two cars (and one rolling chassis) were left inside so make room for the guests.

The retail store also has on display a bevy of other Tesla products and accessories including the various wheels (up to 21-inches) that can be selected for the Model S, customisable trim, and even Tesla’s own branded clothing for the loyalist.

Another area within the new store is dedicated to the Design Studio where customers lounge in while taking the time to customise their new car prior to delivery.

In case you were wondering, new Sydney store does have underground parking bays which will be used to conduct test drives from. That’s also where allocated charging stations are also located, using Tesla’s Superchargers.

Tesla’s Power Wall home energy storage system is also on display at the new flagship Sydney location, from which interested customers can be educated about and be directed to one of Tesla’s partners to, in addition to the battery itself, plan out solar panel and inverter fitment based on a customer’s particular home needs.
