Before local production ceases in 2017, Toyota brings more value and sportier touches to their Aurion sedan range.
Toyota Australia has announced a reordering of its Aurion range of family sedans and while there’s no telling whether this is the final change before local production ceases in 2017, at least the last version will benefit from the updates.
Just last week, Toyota also announced a revision to its Camry sedan, injecting it with some extra kit and sporty touches. The updated Aurion has similar intent, spawning a new Sportivo variant that costs an extra $3,000 over the base AT-X which starts at $36,490.
The new Aurion AT-X and Sportivo comes with satellite navigation, 10-speaker JBL sound system, DAB+ radio, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment display, rear-window power sundshade, and ISOFIX mounting points for child safety seats.
However, the higher price of the Sportivo brings 18-inch wheels, power-operated leather sports seats, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, auto-levelling LED headlamps, LED foglamps, and a exclusive new Cherry paint finish.
The AT-X also offered as standard with 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels over the previous 16-inchers and a new four-spoke steering wheels. Other standard features across the range include keyless entry and ignition, Optitron dials, 4.2-inch full-colour multi-information display and corner parking sensors front and rear.
All Toyota Aurions are also equipped with seven airbags, reversing camera, stability and traction control, anti-skid brakes and dual-zone auto air-conditioning.
Still at the top of the Aurion range is the Presara which has remained unchanged after this revision, but buyers who’d like the Sportivo’s more dynamic flourishes can (for $1,000) spec it with its 18-inch wheels and tyres, along with the suspension and steering tweaks to boot.
All Aurions are powered by Toyota’s naturally aspirated 3.5-litre 2GR-FE V6 petrol engine, delivering 200kW and 336Nm.
