The updated Mazda2 range will debut locally in May, including – for the first time – a sedan body shape.
Mazda reckons the sedan’s 450-litre boot capacity, stylish looks and comprehensive standard specifications – including 15-inch alloy wheels, six airbags and ABS anti-lock brakes – will attract a new buyer set to the Mazda2 range.
Power remains the handy 76kW, 1.5-litre petrol engine driving through five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions. Fuel consumption is as low as 6.4l/100kms.
The funky styling of the Mazda2 has been the main drawcard in a three-fold sales increase over its chunky predecessor and those looks evolve nicely in the newcomer.
The updated Mazda2 heading to Australia shifts its sourcing to the company’s plant in Thailand.
With a starting price well below $20,000, nice looks, handy specifications and nice driving dynamics, expect great things from the updated Mazda2.
