With its clever i-MIEV electric hatchback now on the road, Mitsubishi will reveal la glimpse into the future when it completes Australia’s first fast charge electric vehicle recharging station at its plant in Clovelly Park, Adelaide.
The ‘Level 3 Electric Vehicle DC Fast Charge System’ will provide a 50 per cent for the i-MIEV’s lithium-ion battery in just 12 minutes or an 80 per cent charge in 30 minutes. A complete re-charge using a 15-amp domestic power supply takes seven hours.
In major European cities London and Paris, Government’s have installed similar systems for use by owners of electric systems and the expectation is for Australia governments to follow the lead of their European counterparts.
In the meantime, Mitsubishi has taken the front running with its Adelaide ‘fast Charge System’ developed in conjunction with motoring club service company Club Assist.
“Mitsubishi continues to be industry leaders in electric vehicles and the fast Charge station is the next step in making electric motoring accessible to a wider audience,” revealed Masahiko Takahashi, Mitsubishi’s President and CEO.
