A definite starter for Australia is the all-new and much-improved Nissan Pathfinder, unveiled in Detroit and scheduled for local sale next year.
All-new Nissan Pathfinder is slightly larger than the current model but sheds 225kgs mostly thanks to a switch from the rugged ladder frame chassis to more modern monocoque design.
But the looks – inside and out – are the major taking point. Certainly ‘glammed-up’, the all-new Nissan Pathfinder is modern, curvy, stylish and aerodynamic. Nissan says it’s also more spacious inside and the three-row seven-seat capacity will challenge rivals like the Toyota Kluger and Ford Territory.
In North America the all-new Nissan Pathfinder will be powered by Nissan’s 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine but models sold elsewhere in the world are certain to include at least one diesel engine in their specifications.
No word yet on the towing capacity of the latest Pathfinder but the current model’s 3,000kgs maximum rating has set the bar very high.
Nissan Australia says it will be more than 12 months before the all-new Pathfinder goes on-sale locally.
