Opel, General Motors’ German brand, has confirmed the racy, just-launched Astra GTC three-door hatchback coupe will be part of the local lineup when the nameplate kicks-off in Australia late this year.
Astra, Corsa and Insignia models will comprise the initial Opel Australia range.
The Opel Astra GTC will square-off against the just-launched Volkswagen Scirocco and potent Renault Megane RS is an alluring Australian ‘European Hot Hatch’ segment.
“Opel designers wanted the Astra GTC to be the ultimate expression of Opel’s design language ‘sculptural artistry meets German precision’ and to embody our passion for the automobile,” explained Opel Australia boss Bill Mott. “We are excited to be able to present this dynamic car to Australians, as it offers the ideal blend of emotion and functionality, and expect our ‘hot hatch’ to bring a breath of fresh air into the sports compact segment.”
