Holden has announced its ground-breaking Volt electric sedan will be priced at $59,990 when launched later this year. An extended-range electric vehicle, the Holden Volt will provide a pure electric range of 87kms and, when the battery requires charging, a 1.4-litre petrol motor acts as a generator providing a total range between re-fills of 600kms (making Sydney-Melbourne a one-stop drive, just like most vehicles with petrol engines).
The Holden Volt will be generously equipped with standard leather seats (fronts heated), a reversing camera, front and rear parking assist and a sensor key.
And the Volt will be the first Holden model to offer advanced safety from ‘Forward Collision Alert’ and ‘Lane Departure Warning’ systems.
Audio comes in the form of a six-speaker Bose system with a seven-inch colour LCD touch screen (includes the navigation display) and 30GB hard-drive. The speakers are from the Bose Energy Efficiency Series using 50 per-cent less electricity than other speakers.
Holden will launch the Volt supported by capped price servicing (each of the first four standard log book services will cost $185 within the first three years or 60,000kms) and an eight year/160,000 kms warranty on the battery and 161 Voltec components which is transferable to subsequent owners.
