Holden has linked with Better Place for renewable energy and faster charging alternatives for the upcoming Volt extended range electric sedan.
Holden Volt can be recharged from home power and under the partnership with Holden, Better Place will deliver membership packages for Volt owners including home installation of a ‘Charge Spot’ unit and zero emissions charging from renewable sources such as wind, solar and hydro generation. Better Place will also be installing a Volt Charge Spot and Holden Volt dealerships.
Using a standard 240V 10A system, a Holden Volt can be recharged at home in six hours whereas the Better Place Charge Spot will do the job in four hours. A full recharge costs around $2.50.
“The partnership between Better Place and Holden means Volt drivers can choose an all-inclusive service that delivers complete peace of mind and makes driving an electric car easy, convenient and reliable,” explained Ben Keneally from Better Place. “We look after everything a Volt owner needs – including installing personal charging points at home or work, delivering shorter charging times, and providing ongoing management, maintenance and 24-hour customer care.”
