Holden has a new, heavy-duty seven-seat SUV – the Holden Colorado 7. Based on the Colorado pickup platform, the new SUV – like the pick-up – was designed by the General Motors design studio and Brazil and the handsome newcomer is also manufactured in Thailand.
Available in two model grades – LT and up-scale LTZ – the Holden Colorado 7 is powered by the 132kW/470Nm Duramax four-cylinder turbo-diesel driving through a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel consumption is rated at 9.4l/100kms.
Based on the Colorado Crew Cab pickup, the SUV variants boast unique suspension calibration and impressive toughness – a 3.0-tonne towing capacity and heavy duty off-road credentials. The part-time 4WD system includes a transfer case with low and high ratios, ‘Shift On The Fly’ and a limited-slip differential.
Approach angle is 30-degrees, breakover angle is 22-degrees, departure angle is 22-degrees and the wading depth is 600mm – enough to take-on Cape York you’d reckon.
Interior space is certainly family-friendly in all three seating rows, or you can fold the rear two rows flat to provide 1830-litres of cargo capacity.
The range-topping Holden Colorado LTZ gains plenty of extra kit, highlighted by 18-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights, front fog-lights and some additional exterior chrome.
Holden says the Colorado 7 has been allocated the maximum five-star safety rating by ANCAP.
Prices are:
LT $46,990
LTZ $50,490
