Prices are down and equipment levels are up for the all-new VF range of the Holden Commodore with the entry-level ‘Evoke’ model starting at just $34,990. And even though it’s the entry-level, the VF Holden Commodore Evoke brings previously unheard-of levels of technology for an Australian-made car – including ‘Auto Park Assist’ for both parallel and right-angle parking, a rear-view camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning and eight-inch colour touchscreen audio with Holden’s MyLink and front/rear parking sensors.
Powered by Holden’s 3.0-litre SIDI V6 engine, the VF Holden Evoke includes standard safety features such as Trailer Sway Control, Hill Hold Control and Hill Start Assist. VF is also the first Holden Commodore to dispense with a ratchet handbrake – an electronic park brake with automatic release is standard.
The Mylink system is app-embedded technology which includes built-in apps for Pandora and Stitcher SmartRadio, full iPod integration and enhanced voice recognition.
Taking into account both sedan and Sportwagon variants of the all-new Holden Commodore, price reductions are in the range of $5,000 to $9,800.
The luxury VF Holden Calais sees a rice drop of $8,000 over the current model – it will be stickered at $39,990. As well as the extra luxo kit, the Calais adds Blind Spot Alert and Reverse Traffic Alert.
But the best news is the V6-powered VF Holden Calais V which is priced at $46,990 – that $9,800 under the VE model. Calais V can be had with the 6.0-litre Gen IV V8 engine for $52,990 ($9,000 less than superseded model).
As the flagship of the VF Holden Commodore range, Calais V scores inclusions unprecedented in locally-made volume cars such as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, colour head-up display, sunroof, satellite navigation and a premium Bose audio system.
On the sporting side, you’ll need $35,990 for the V6-powered SV6 ($6,800 less than the current model) while ‘Dad’s Favourite’, the SS Commodore gains the 6.0-litre Gen IV V8 but the price drops by $5,800 to $41,990. Naturally both feature sports styling but you can go further for the sedan with a factory-fitted wing spoiler for the boot on the options list for $500. Both SV6 and SS score Blind Spot Alert and Reverse Traffic Alert as standard.
Stepping-up further, the VF Holden Commodore SS V features new-design 19-inch alloy wheels, leather seats and satellite navigation but drops in price by a staggering $9,800 to just $45,490.
And the VF Commodore ‘hero car’ – the SS V Redline is $6,300 cheaper at $51,490 but get the inclusions: Brembo brakes, enhanced Fe3 sports suspension, forged 19-inch alloy wheels, premium Bose audio, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. Enthusiasts will be further buoyed with news the VF Holden Commodore SS V features wider rear wheels and ‘Competition Mode’ for the suspension tune with track settings and launch control.
Car Showroom will be putting the all-new VF Commodore through its paces at the national media launch 27-28 May so check back for full details and our driving impressions.
