As we know, Hyundai Australia is preparing to launch the premium sub-brand locally, starting with the Genesis Coupe and today comes news the next-generation Genesis premium sedan will debut the Korean giant’s all-new ‘HTRAC’ all-wheel-drive system.
‘H’ stands for Hyundai and ‘TRAC’ is a shortened form of ‘traction’. By electronically controlling torque split to front and rear wheels, the normally rear-drive Genesis sedan will offer superior levels of ride and handling in slippery conditions.
Hyundai has tested the new system extensively in severe European conditions as well as the Nurburgring circuit and Korea’s F1 venue Yeongam. The system allows the driver to select driving modes for a tailored dynamic.
All of the next generation Gensis models are slated for both left and right-hand-drive production and while the Coupe is confirmed for local sale, Hyundai Australia says the next generation Genesis premium sedan - scheduled to launch at home in Korea later this year – is still under evaluation.
