Korean Prime Minister Chung Hongwon was on-hand at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul, Korea as Hyundai unveiled its all-new Genesis sedan to the world.

Genesis is to Hyundai what Lexus is to Toyota and Infiniti is to Nissan and while we already know the Genesis Coupe is headed for Australian sale (on-sale date not yet confirmed), we would not be surprised if Hyundai Australia brought this excellent sedan version here too (it’s available in right-hand-drive and it’s under consideration).

At home in Korea, Hyundai already had 3,500 sales orders for the Genesis before launch and plans to sell 32,000 units annually in the domestic market and 30,000 annually overseas (including for the first time Europe and Russia).

As we can see, styling is top-notch – the Genesis is the first model to showcase Hyundai’s latest ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ design philosophy. And it’s big – 4,990mm in length and with a wheelbase extended by 75mm over the previous generation to 3,010mm, Hyundai says the Genesis sedan provides best-in-class interior space.

As well as the full range of safety technologies, Hyundai says the Genesis debuts some firsts, including HTRAC all-wheel-drive and Automatic Emergency Braking.

Under the bonnet are V6 and V8 petrol engines.
