As well as announcing the European-sourced additions to its product range, Holden has flagged ongoing local suspension development with confirmation it will be keeping the massive proving ground at Lang, Lang Victoria.
There had been speculation the end of local manufacturing in 2016 would see Holden sell the massive test track located 95kms south-east of Melbourne which was opened in 1957.
“Whether it’s earned on the proving Ground or created at GM Australia Design Centre, Holden will keep its proud Australian identity,” revealed German Stefan Jacoby, GM’s President of International Operations. “Post 2017, Holden will not only retain its Lang Lang Proving Ground in Victoria but will host a design, engineering and product development workforce in Australia.
“Our engineering and vehicle development team at Lang Lang will have the capability to tune suspension, steering and drivetrain characteristics for Australia’s unique conditions and customers,” explained Holden boss Gerry Dorizas. “The Lang Lang team will also remain plugged in to GM’s global engineering department, with ongoing input into product programs that reach beyond Holden and influence GM vehicles around the world.”
