Holdens Ute Range Shines Brightest On Safety
The Holden VE Ute range now boasts the same five-star level of safety as its sedan and wagon counterparts. This makes it the first utility to be awarded a five star safety rating from either the authoritative Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) or the Euro New Car Assessment Program (EuroNCAP).
There is no doubt that Holden's decision to equip all Ute variants with six airbags made the difference. Other standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS) and anti-lock braking backed by Electronic Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD).
The Holden Ute has travelled a long road since the original early 1950s model went to work for Australia. But just as that humbler model offered a similar cabin to its sedan counterparts, so too does the latest VE provide the same levels of front seat accommodation and occupant safety as any four-door Commodore. There is absolutely no compromise on safety with the side impact and side curtain airbags bringing the total number of these life-saving devices to six - pretty impressive for a two-door light commercial vehicle!
With this latest ANCAP result, Holden can now lay claim to a five star safety rating for its entire range of locally manufactured vehicles, including VE Omega Utes converted to run on LPG.
Holden Vehicle Structure & Safety Integration Manager, Steve Curtis said Holden had a long and proud history of delivering safety firsts.
"Exceptional safety has always been our priority," Mr Curtis said.
"Ensuring Ute met the same high standard as the rest of the VE range has been a real focus."
