Holden have taken the wraps of its SS V Redline performance range with a day at Phillip Island Racetrack. The Redline range which is available in sedan, ute and wagon sees Holden deliver its most powerful Commodore to date.
The SS V Redline has been developed at some of New South Wales and Victroria's finest racetracks. Holden spent time at Heathcote Raceway testing the launch control systems. While some of Holden's engineers had the task of putting the SS V Redline around Phillip Island, Winton, Broadford and Milford Race tracks fine tuning the car for racetrack days.
Forget dropping six figures on a European sports car, the latest SS V Redline VF Commodore is world class and in this price category it doesn’t get any better. The SS V Redline proves that Australian's can deliver a world class product, the SS V Redline is refined inside and and out, yet delivers a brutal level of sport performance.
The SS V Redline range commands an extra $6,000 over the price of the standard SS V range.

SS V Redline Sedan (auto) $53,690
SS V Redline Sportwagon (auto) $55,690

SS V Redline Ute (auto) $50,690
CarShowroom had the opportunity to put the SS V Redline sedan and ute through its paces on the drag strip, testing out the new launch control system (manual only). In light drizzle the SS V Redline got off the line time and time again. Simply active the launch control, depress the clutch, stomp on the accelerator, simply side step the clutch and your are launched down the track at high speed.
The SS V Redline simply isn’t a point and shoot weapon, we also had the opportunity to sample the car on the skid pan. Putting the SS V Redline sedan through a soaked motorkhana circuit.
Before jumping behind the wheel we expected the car to be impossible to control in such wet conditions. How wrong could we be. Flooring the throttle in to the slalom course the V8 in SS V Redline roared in to life and launched us towards the first witches hat. The precise steering and level of grip produced from the high performance 245/40 R19 (front) and 275/35 R19 (rear) tyres was outstanding.
The latest SS V Redline is capable of going from 0-100km/h 5.5 seconds not bad for a car that can carry a family of five with ease carry or 600kgs in the tray as ute.
Powered by a 6.0litre V8 which produces 270kW and 530Nm is a beast, all via a smooth 6 speed gearbox ($2200 adds 6spd auto). Holden claim that fuel consumption is 11.8 l/100km.
The Competitive Mode which is exclusive to the SS V Redline series is selected by pressing the ESC button twice. Once activated you will notice the car is turned to give maximum feed back to the driver without removing all safety features.
The ESC is turned to provide race track feedback and the ESC allows the car to step out further and explore the grip levels to the extreme whilst still allowing the vehicle to be recovered.
Holden Marketing Manager Kristian Aquilina said the Holden team set out to give Redline customers more performance and more refinement than ever before.
“Redline was always going to play an important role in the new VF line-up, and from the outset we carefully considered what it would take to make the new VF SS V Redline the ultimate sports machine from Holden,” he said.
