Steering wheel might get annoyingly heavy during parking.
American EV automaker Tesla has just announced its single biggest recall yet, affecting some 123,000 Model S luxury saloons that were made before April 2016. The call to bring back so many Model S saloons comes as the company continues to struggle with production and delivery delays for its Model 3 saloon, which remain below the targets set for Q1 2018.
Tesla says that the issue with the Model S’ pertain to corrosion occurring to bolts on the power steering system of the car. According to the company, the issue only affects cars that are subject to particularly cold climates, and can result in increased force needed to turn the wheel at slow speeds.
“This [issue] primarily makes the car harder to drive at low speeds and for parallel parking, but it does not materially affect control at high speed, where only small steering force is needed.” — Tesla Inc.
Owners with affected cars can book a slot to have their cars attended to, with reparation works expected to take no more than an hour.
