Blink and you’ll miss it.
Mazda has announced running changes for the 2019 CX-8 SUV, throwing in some new kit and pulling the prices up a little bit. The new CX-8 adds Apple CarPlay & Android Auto into the standard kit list, as well as G-Vectoring Control Plus, a mysterious system that improves the driving experience by controlling body movements via the smoothening of the brakes & throttle. You also get tyre-pressure monitoring as standard now too, which is nice.
There is evidently a changed climate control panel on the centre console, while flagship Asaki cars now get a 7.0-inch digital driver’s display between the instrument dials, LED ambient lighting, frameless rear-view mirror, and ventilated front seats. There’s also an LED license plate light outside, and new hues for the alloys on the Sport & Asaki grades. Told you they’re blink-and-you’ll-miss-it type changes.
The Sport model continues to offer generous levels of standard kit, in addition to the updates you get for the 2019 model year. You’ll find things like LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic wipers, and powered mirrors. There’ll also be things like a 7-inch MZD-Connect infotainment screen, as well as fabric upholstery. Further, driver assistance kit will include things like AEB (phew), active cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, a reversing camera, and rear parking sensors.
For the premium you’ll have to fork out for a CX-8 Asaki over a Sport, you get significantly more kit. 19-inch alloys get lobbed on, along with things like a powered tailgate and keyless entry. You’ll also find heated seats for the first two rows (only the fronts get ventilation), electric adjustment for the front seats, a 360º camera supplemented by all-round parking sensors, and a BOSE audio system.
