Stylish SUV duo set to make a rather grand entrance.
It’s been confirmed by the powers at be at Suzuki’s local office that its two hotly-anticipated SUVs, the Vitara Series II and all-new Jimny, will go on sale here on Australia Day (Jan 26th). This was confirmed by the brand’s general manager, Michael Pachota.

The Vitara that Australians known and love only gets better with considerable improvements to safety & design. We know that the Jimny’s racked up more than 200 pre-orders ahead of its arrival. Also if the UK-spec Jimny’s are any indication (with standard AEB, DAB digital radio, fog lights and air-conditioning), Australian models should be pretty well kitted too.
Motivation will come from a 75kW naturally-aspirated engine, with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto handling transmission duties. A selectable 4-wheel drive system will be included as standard, while we expect to see the CarPlay/Auto-equipped 7.0-inch MMI system included as well.
The Vitara Series II is essentially a refreshed & revised version of the current-generation Vitara, a car that we quite like for its punchy powertrain and engaging dynamics. For Australia we’re expecting to see a kit upgrade focused on driver & safety kit, with AEB, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control either made available across the range, or made standard across the range.
There have been small aesthetic changes inside and out for the Vitara too, while in Europe, the powertrain’s been changed from a 1.6-litre N/A 4-pot to a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill from the Swift. We’re not sure if we’ll see that on our shores but we’re certainly hoping for it.
