Two grades, 5 engines, and 7-seats.
Volkswagen’s local office has let slip some details about the Tiguan Allspace, a 7-seat proposition of the family SUV that has only thus far offered 5 seats. Available in Comfortline and Highline trims, the Tiguan Allspace will also come with numerous options, each with just the sort of kit that’ll make you rethink your financing plan.
The Comfortline grade will be available in 110TSI (110kW/250Nm), 132TSI (132kW/320Nm) and 110TDI guises (110kW/340Nm), with the entry-level model getting a six-speed DSG automatic powering the front wheels, while the rest get a seven-speed DSG powering all four wheels. The 132TSI and 110TDI also use bigger 2.0-litre mills, though it goes without saying that their choice of fuel differs.
Comfortline cars also come with a raft of standard kit, the kind of thing that’ll make family buyers very happy indeed. Lane-keep assist, parking sensors, rear-view camera, keyless entry & go, LED headlights, automatic wipers, and 18-inch alloys are all lobbed on as standard.
Further, you get things like three-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch Discover Media navigation-ready infotainment system (with Apple & Android smartphone mirroring), and autonomous emergency braking included in the price.
If you need help relieving your wallet of some heft, VW’s got you covered. Meet the Driver Assistance Package, Luxury Package, and Sound & Vision Package, aiming to relieve you of $1600, $4000, and $3200 respectively.
The least-pricey Driver Assistance Pack has our vote, because it adds things like adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assistance, automatic high beam, and blind-spot monitoring. Step up to the Luxury Package and you see things like leather upholstery, an electric drivers’ seat, and a panoramic sunroof added to the kit list.
Sound & Vision throws in wow-items like the fully-digital instrument cluster, an 8-speaker audio system, and a 360º camera system.
Move up to the Highline model, and a number of optional things become standard. Leather seats, heated first- and second-row seats, and a 9.2-inch DiscoverPro infotainment system. The active cruise control, active high-beam, rear cross-traffic alert and lane-keeping aid all gets added, too. Unique items like 19-inch alloys also denote the Highline above other grades.
You also get unique engines, namely a choice between a 162TSI (162kW/350Nm) and a 140TDI (140kW/400Nm), though both cars get 7-speed DSG automatic gearboxes and 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
Of course, there’s optional kit here too. Sound & Vision Package makes a return for $3000, R-Line Package makes its debut for $2900, while a panoramic sunroof is available ala-carte for $2000.
The R-Line package, which will appeal to those looking to add a little aggression to proceedings, throws in sportier bumpers, side sills, and a spoiler. There are 20-inch alloys here too, while the seats get unique upholstery, a unique steering wheel, black headlining, and steel pedals. There’s also a variable-ratio steering rack for greater driving confidence.

– Comfortline 110TSI: $40,490
– Comfortline 132TSI: $45,490
– Comfortline 110TDI: $46,990
