The first ever Lamborghini Miura SV, restored to its breathtaking glory.
Lamborghini is perhaps feeling rather nostalgic, what with the unveiling of their Centenario concept at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show – a car to commemorate the 100 years since the birth of Ferruchio Lamborghini, the company’s founder – despite not being very fitting to his name or design sensibilities of the time.
Anyway. Lamborghini made an appearance at this year’s annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance held in Florida earlier in March, which is an event among a few each year that’s the motor show circuit for those wearing monocles.
At the event, this gorgeous 1971 Miura SV was unveiled, which is the same car that was unveiled to a shocked and enamoured crowd at the ’71 Geneva Motor Show.
The Miura was introduced in 1966 – making 2016 the car’s Golden Anniversary - but this SV was the first of the last of the breed, with SV denoting Lamborghini’s most hardcore SuperVeloce version. This particular model is, chassis number 4846, a true one-off that borrowed parts from the Miura S and even some bespoke parts since it was the first of the SVs before entering mass production.
Lamborghini’s nascent restoration branch, PoloStorico, has spared no expense to return this car to its former glory, beautiful represented by its original Verde Metallizata green finish, lustrous tan leather interior, and fully overhauled and restored engine.
Enrico Maffeo, head of PoloStorico, said: "This is the year in which the Lamborghini Miura celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. This car not only illustrates the iconic appeal of the Miura, widely acknowledged as the forerunner of modern super sports models, but is also a perfect example of the expertise available in Lamborghini PoloStorico in providing the most authentic Lamborghini restorations."
Just. Wow.
