Volkswagen’s excellent Eos hardtop convertible receives a power boost for the 2011 model year.
Now the Eos gets some grunt thanks to the same turbocharged 2.0-litre engine fitted to the ripping Golf GTI. Maximum power is 155kW and peak torque of 280Nm arrives at just 1,700rpm.
Drive is to the front wheels via either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG automatic. Volkswagen says the more powerful Eos is good for fuel consumption as low as 7.4l/100kms and exhaust emissions of 173g/km.
No changes for the diesel Volkswagen Eos – the 103kW, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel is carried over to the new model.
Other changes include standard Hill Start Assist (HAS), new taillights, some extra chrome for the front grille, new 17-inch alloy wheels, new Vienna leather upholstery and heated front seats.
Prices are unchanged with the entry-level Eos (103TDI) starting at $46,990
