The revised BMW X6 range has emerged in Europe, highlighted by an all-new derivative – the barnstorming triple-turbocharged X6 M50d.
BMW says the newcomer is the world’s most powerful in-line six cylinder with 280kW/740Nm on-tap! With an eight-speed automatic transmission, ‘M’-modified drivetrain, suspension and aerodynamics, the BMW X6 M50d outperforms most eight-cylinder rivals - accelerating from zero to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds – but is still capable of returning fuel consumption as low as 7.7l/100kms.
Also joining the lineup is a new BMW X6 M with its 408kW V8 engine and the usual ‘M’ enhancements.
Across the range, the new BMW X6 gets a fresh look highlighted by a sharp and aerodynamic new front-end with flush-fitting headlights, a new grille and fog lights. And there is an optional bonnet choice – with a power bulge delivering a more powerful look.
X6 M50d and X6 M models score new adaptive LED headlights (optional on other models).
All change for the rear styling too – a more powerful look with bold new LED tail-lights.
In addition there are some new paint colours and new-design 19-inch alloy wheels (xDrive 50i models in bi-colour twin-spokes). Bi-colour 20-inch Y-spoke wheels are on the options list.
Inside, the latest BMW X6 range gets a new colour choice for the Nevada leather seats – Vermillion Red – and the optional nappa leather is available in two colours – Black and Ivory White.
The optional M Sport Plus package adds bi-colour double spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, the adaptive LED headlights, sports seats in ‘M’ Alcantara/Nappa leather, ‘M’ leather steering wheel with shift paddles, stainless steel pedals and ‘M’ trim.
Petrol engines for the new BMW X6 are six-cylinder xDrive35i (225kW) and V8 xDrive50i (300kW). Diesels –xDrive30d and xDrive40d are good for 180kW and 225kW.
BMW Australia will announce local details closer to launch.
