The good-looking, all-new Ford Escape compact SUV has bowed at the Los Angeles Motor Show and, according to Ford Australia, we’re likely to see the newcomer in Australia within the next 12 months. In North America the all-new Ford Focus will be sold in front-wheel-drive with Intelligent Four-Wheel-Drive as an option.
Larger than the previous Escape, the all-new model adopts the global Ford front grille and the nicely-styled profile is highlighted by a sharply sloping roof and angled third windows.
Power comes from three four-cylinder engines including the current 125kW/226Nm, naturally aspirated 2.5-litre engine, a 177kW/339Nm version of Ford’s 2.0-litre turbocharged EcoBoost unit and a 1.6-litre turbocharged EcoBoost delivering 129kW/240Nm.
Inside, the all-New Ford Escape is certainly a looker with nice angles for the dashboard and a raised gear-lever to free-up centre console space. Ford says the Escape will come standard with Blind Sport Information System and its self-parking system as seen locally in the recently launched Focus small car.
