Lexus staged the world debut of its all-new GS 450h hybrid at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Certainly a much more dynamic design than the previous GS, the newcomer advances Lexus styling in a more commanding direction. Same inside – much bolder than any previous Lexus, but still the hallmark luxury and technology.
All-change on the driveline too – this time a brilliant Atkinson cycle V6 petrol engine and two hybrid motors in a front-engine/rear-wheel-drive configuration.
Lexus being Lexus, technology is in overload with the new GS 450h. Active Variable Suspension (AVS) and Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) take centre stage, but there’s also variable gear ratio steering, a driver monitor and active cruise control which operates down to standstill.
Of course there’s the more mundane, Night View System, Head-Up Display, Blind-Spot Monitor and Lane-Keep Assist.
Lexus will reveal Australian plans for the GS 450 h shortly.
