Mercedes-Benz pulled out all stops in the all-new B-Class compact – great new looks with enhanced aerodynamics, more interior space, a new turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine, new dual-clutch automatic transmission and lots of new technology. The all-new Mercedes-Benz B-Class goes on-sale in Europe in November.

At 1557mm, the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class is lower than the current model and the new bodyshape delivers a drag CD of just 0.26 – the best in its segment. A roof ‘swage’ line enhances length, the wheel arches and bodyside sculptures add a sporty touch and both front and rear ends are more aggressive than the current model.

You sit lower than the current model – front headroom is 1047mm - and the enhanced rear seta space delivers 976mm of legroom (more than the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class).

Inside, the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class ramps-up the luxury over the current version (you can even opt for leather trim for the dashboard) with nice contrasting stitching for the seats, four-dial instrument cluster and 5.8-inch or 7.0-inch TFT infotainment screens.

Petrol engines are from Mercedes’ new M270 family. There are two 1.6-litre units 90kW/200Nm for the B180 and 115kW/250Nm for the B 200. For the diesels the B-Class employs 1.8-litre versions of the OM651 engine fitted to C-Class and S-Class – 80kW/250Nm for the B 180 CDI and 100kW/300Nm for the B 200 CDI.

There’s a new six-speed manual transmission and the automatic is Mercedes’ new 7G-DCT dual cutch design.
