Ferrari has taken the wraps off the new folding hardtop Ferrari California T at the home of the Australian Gran Prix, Albert Park.
Priced from $409,888 ($49,407 less than model it replaces) the California T is now powered by a twin-turbocharged engine. The new engine 3.9-litre that produces 412 kW at 7,500 RPM and a massive 755 Nm at 4,740 RPM. That is an improvement of 52 kW’s and 250Nm from the 360kW/505Nm 4.3 litre V8 of the previous model.
The 0-100-km/h sprint is performed in a impressive 3.6’s, whist the 0-200km/h is performed in 11.2 seconds, the Ferrari California T continues all the way to a top speed of 316km/h. Fuel consumption has been improved by 15% down to 10.5l/100 km.
Innovation on the new California T includes the latest F1-trac traction control system as well as the most advance suspension and dampers ever to grace a Ferrari.
The only components kept from the previous California is the overall length and the retractable hard top roof, every other part of the California T is new. The exterior of the Ferrari California T sees the use of a large typical Ferrari grille, which lends it’s self to aura of power and sportiness, the LED headlights have a sleek wedged appearance. Ferrari have taken inspiration from the iconic 1958 250 Testa Rossa, by using the pontoon fender styling. The features horizontal elements like the exhaust layout and triple fence rear diffuser that increases down force.
Clad in leather the 2+2 layout of the California T is the ultimate in luxury motoring. From the drivers seat you are faced with sports inspired steering wheel which houses buttons for headlights, indicators, windscreen wipers, engine start button and traction dial.
The 3 dial instrument cluster houses a LCD info screen on the left, rev counter in the centre and speedometer on the right. The media system offers Sat-Nav with 3D mapping, DAB radio, AM/FM Radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Ferrari California is what Ferrari likes to describe as an “everyday” Ferrari. The California owner uses their Ferrari like no other, with the owners doing 30% more annual mileage, 50 % high usage, and 65% of all trips with a passenger on board. Add to this that 70% of buyers who purchased a California were new to the Ferrari brand and Ferrari have a winner. Being an everyday Ferrari the luggage hatch folds down for increased luggage capacity, meaning the California T can even carry a two sets of golf clubs – not bad.
The Ferrari California T is available in Rosso and Blu (Red or Blue) and with the number of different interior colour options, buyer have over 15 million choice available to them.
