SUV buyers should pencil-in May next year as that is when this stunner – the Land Rover Discovery Sport – goes on-sale.
With seven-seat capacity, the Sport is the first of the new generation Land Rover Discovery models to debut and it will be powered by an all-turbocharged lineup of 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines driving through either a six-speed manual transmission (diesel engines only) or nine-speed automatics.
We like the new looks and inside the Sport model highlights an upscale new interior for the all-new Land Rover Discovery – practical as always but now with high quality materials, ‘tilt-and-slide’ second-row seats, head-up display and eight-inch touch-screen infotainment system.
And underneath is the hallmark Land Rover Discovery off-road biased suspension – approach, departure and breakover angles of 25,31 and 21 degrees, wading depth of 600mm and Terrain response’ technology.
But this time Land Rover says we can expect better on-road dynamics thanks to an innovative rear axle design.
So if you’re considering a new SUV, file this under ‘WMD’ – and that’s ‘Wait Must Drive’ (not what you were thinking!).
