2015 Mazda2 Gets Clean Diesel Option

Mazda has confirmed its next-generation Mazda2 will be available with the company’s new Skyactiv-D 1.5-litre clean diesel engine.

Related to the Skyactiv-D 2.2 diesel, Mazda’s smaller capacity clean diesel employs a variable geometry turbocharger and an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold.
 
Maximum power is 77kW at 4000rpm and peak torque of 250Nm is available from 1500-2500rpm.

The all-new Mazda2 will also be equipped with the full suite of Skyactiv technology including manual and automatic transmissions, fuel-saving i-stop idle stop and i-eloop brake energy regeneration.
 
Too early to say if the new clean diesel has been rule in or out for Australian sale at some stage.
