The Challenger has followed in the footsteps of the Ford Everest with a host of safety features not normally seen in ruggered 4x4s. The Challenger include Blind Sport Warning (BSW) and Ultrasonic misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS), Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM),  Multi-around Monitor which displays a bird’s eye image of the vehicle’s perimeter and the new model gains an electronic parking brake, plus seven airbags.

The Challenger also gets the Super Select II four-wheel drive system. That now has a new Off-road Mode terrain selection system, a first on a Mitsubishi, which according to Mitsubishi will improve off road traction and stability.
