That’s more like it! Nissan has torn-up the manual for the luxurious V8 Patrol SUV and re-launched the updated 2015 model priced from $69,990.

Yes that’s right – the previous $93,390 Ti model is now listed at $69,990 and the $114,490 Ti-L which was $114,490 is now $86,990.

Nissan Patrol V8 previously had a ST-L entry-grade model priced at $82,690 but as part of the 2015 updates, that has been discontinued.

All of which has the awesome full-size super-luxury V8-powered Nissan Patrol – still five-seat or seven-seat - looking very sharp against the Toyota LandCruiser ($84,165 for the GXL V8 petrol and $114,165 for the Sahara V8).

Incredibly, despite the price cuts, Nissan has ADDED extra standard specifications for the updated 2015 Patrol V8 – leather seats, satellite navigation, Around View Monitor, Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC) suspension and the Tyre Pressure Monitor System.

And, addressing one criticism of the V8 Patrol (very much targeting the left-hand-drive UAE market), Nissan has managed to move the gear-lever to the right-hand side of the centre console for right-hand-drive markets like us.

Of course, given that need to cater to the needs of UAE customers, the V8 Patrol has since launch been full-on with both the luxuriously kitted interior and performance from the VK56VD 5.6-litre V8 engine which delivers its 298kW/560Nm via a seven-speed automatic transmission and Nissan’s All-mode 4x4 system with electronic 4WD selection.

Sure the Nissan Patrol V8 – like the Toyota LandCruiser Sahara and indeed the Range Rover Autobiography and BMW X6 – may not be everyone’s cup of tea and hard-core patrol operators will always prefer the Y61.

But now, at these updated 2015 prices and with extra kit, with one clever move, Nissan has the awesome luxury SUV at the top of the totem pole for specifications, performance and value for money…and that’s as good as it gets.
