One really should watch what one tweets…

2017 Honda Jazz Facelift Outed

You’ve got to love social media. Making its rounds on Twitter are a handful of low-res images, with what appear to be brochure shots of a facelifted Honda Jazz. These images, which show off ‘Fit’ badging (as the Jazz is known in its home market), depict a heavily revised hatch sporting some rather big changes all round.

There’s a redesigned fascia with a new grille, with the Honda ‘H’ positioned prominently in the centre. The chrome grille seems to stretch over the badge now, and stretch some way into the headlights. The headlights themselves appear to look sharper, and may feature LED illumination this time around.

The lower fascia sees some changes too, with a sharper bumper giving the Jazz a bit of a chin. A squared-off, chiselled chin, but a chin nonetheless. This is likely a bodykit reserved for a top-end model, and may come to Australia as an option (please do). The rear sees fewer changes, with only a new lower apron and a chrome garnish.

There were no cabin photos for us to look at, so we expect interior changes to be fairly minimal. Powertrain options should be the same, with 1.5-litre and 1.3-litre VTEC petrol engines soldiering on (only the former is available in our market). The Japanese market also gets a hybrid powertrain, which uses the 1.5-litre VTEC unit in an Atkinson cycle, paired up to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, a lithium-ion battery, and an electric motor.

There’s no mention of a 1.0-litre turbo engine as some quarters have speculated, which lead us to believe that that engine may be reserved for the next-generation Jazz. However, the Honda Sensing suite of active driver assistance technology is slated to debut in this facelift Jazz, which should go some way toward consoling any Jazz Turbo hopefuls.
