The funky, zany Citroen C3 hatch has finally made Australian landfall, promising to bring quirky French flair to the family hatch segment. With several no-cost options and an extensive kit list, the C3 might very well have what it takes to tempt you out of a Peugeot 208, Ford Fiesta, or Holden Barina.
Under the bonnet, you’ll find Groupe PSA’s award-winning 1.2-litre turbocharged three-pot petrol mill, putting out a healthy 81kW and 205Nm. Power goes to the front wheels via a six-speed Aisin automatic, and fuel consumption is… not rated, but we have no doubt it’ll miserly.
The C3 is available on our shores in a sole ‘Shine’ trim, which is generously kitted out, as it would have to be for $23,490 (or $26,990 drive-away until 31st March, including metallic paint). On the standard list you’ll find things like Citroen’s innovative Airbumps (that protect your C3 from those pesky carpark dings), 17-inch diamond-cut alloys, a central 7.0-inch touchscreen that handles all major infotainment functions, smartphone mirroring for both Apple and Android devices, a reversing camera, and cloth upholstery.
Citroen really wants its customers to make their cars uniquely their own, and so they’re offering a number of no-cost options to help give the C3 a unique aesthetic. Among the no-cost choices, you’ll find a black finish for the alloys, the option of a white or red roof, or a body-coloured roof if you want to be less conspicuous.
If you’re feeling flush, you can option on several other add-ons to your C3, like metallic paint for $590, Almond Green solid paint for $290, a ‘Hype Colorado’ cabin theme for $400, an ‘Urban Red’ interior theme for $150, a panoramic glass roof for $600, or you can have Citroen’s ‘ConnectedCam’ which acts as both a dash cam and a photo camera, for $600.
All C3’s will be covered by Citroen’s 5-year unlimited-mileage warranty, replete with roadside assistance.
