Reckon the price premium is justified?
Honda Australia has announced the availability of a new model grade of its popular Civic saloon, dubbed the VTi-S Luxe. Building on the mid-range VTi-S, the new Luxe edition offers “superior levels of comfort and style” while commanding a not-inconsiderable $2,000 price hike over the car its based on.
Where you won’t find a change is under the bonnet, where the VTi-S Luxe gets the same 1.8-litre four-pot petrol mill, mated to a CVT automatic that sends all of its 104kW/174Nm to the front wheels. Fuel consumption is rated at a pretty frugal 6.4L/100km though, which is no bad thing.
“The Civic has such a long, distinguished history in Australia. This current generation is already feature-packed, but this new Civic VTi-S Luxe adds even more equipment that we know customers value highly.” — Stephen Collins, Director, Honda Australia
Where the VTi-S Luxe differentiates itself from the donor car begins with the grille, which is now piano black. Paint finishes on the Luxe are also of either the metallic or pearlescent variety as standard. Inside, the Luxe gains leather upholstery, heating for the front pews, and eight-way power-adjustment for the drivers seat. All very posh.
This is all in addition to the already-generous levels of kit that the VTi-S offers, including keyless entry and go, ‘LaneWatch’ side-view camera, all-round parking sensors, 16-inch alloys, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. All cars also get standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is a nice touch.
The 2018 Honda Civic VTi-S Luxe is available in showrooms today for $26,490 (before on-road costs). Standard offered colours include White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, and Cosmic Blue Metallic.
