They’ve filled the chinks in the armour.

2018 Renault Koleos

French brand Renault quite likes how its big Koleos SUV is faring on our shores, having selected Australia as the first right-hook market to introduce the second-generation model ever so long ago. Now though, the company has sharpened up the appeal of its strongest-selling model, adding critical technology that will not only add convenience, but it could also potentially save lives.

“The standard feature list on the Koleos is already highly impressive and includes reversing camera, automatic transmission and 7-inch touch-screen. Our entry level Life specification is just $29,990 driveaway and now with AEBS and Apple Carplay as standard, the Koleos is an even more compelling product offering for our customers.” — Andrew Moore, Managing Director, Renault Australia

The company’s ‘Advanced Emergency Braking System’ utilises a radar to reduce the severity of, or totally avoid collisions between speeds of 30km/h and 140km/h. The system works by first sounding an audible warning in conjunction to a visual warning in the instrument binnacle, before then slamming on the anchors (with the full cooperation of the electronic stability control).

The second addition to the Koleos lineup is Apple CarPlay, which will be available on both the smaller 7.0-inch and the larger 8.7-inch R-Link infotainment screens. Critically though, there are no price changes to any of the models, with the range now starting with the Koleos Life that’s advertised at $29,990 drive-away.
