Prior to its official debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, Suzuki has shown the world single photo of its Swift Sport, conveniently lacking in any further details. However, the Japanese automaker’s planned slow drip has taken a detour with these new leaked pictures of the car’s brochure.
It’s not all too heavy on details, both written or visual, either, unfortunately. Aside from giving a slightly better look at the Swift Sport’s perpetually perturbed face and some close ups of the new two-tone wheels, manual gear lever, and instrument panel (now featuring a colour multi-function display, the rear of the car remains hidden save for some cropped views of the dual exhaust exits and tail light cluster.
Honestly, we’re not sure why Suzuki chose to highlight the rear lights in this home-market brochure, though, as to our eyes they don’t look significantly different to the one on the standard car. The separation of the tailpipes, however, do successfully carry over a familiar design cue from the outgoing Swift Sport. It even exposes the car’s palette of exterior colours: yellow, red, blue, white, grey, and black.
Inside, as little as we do see, accents of red over the predominantly black cabin can be seen as easily as they were predicted to appear. The chunky looking single-piece bucket seats, flat-bottomed steering wheel and assuredly wide central infotainment touch panel earns it points too.
Reportedly, the Swift Sport will use a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that should be good for 110kW and 245Nm, which in car that weighs less than 900kg should be plenty of poke, especially considering that peak torque now arrives as early as 1,500rpm instead of the 4,400rpm from the older car’s zingy 1.6-litre naturally aspirated unit.
As we can see here, a six-speed manual transmission will be available and no doubt is the favourite among the kind of buyers who would be looking at a Swift Sport. Alternatively, the engine will also be mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic with shift paddles.
