Swedish carmaker Volvo had only just released this heartwarming video teasing its new V60 compact estate, with precious little of the new car to be seen, when website AutoMotoSvijet outed the car in its entirety.
By god is it a looker. We’re presently debating in the office if the new-generation Volvo V60 is more shrunken V90 or lowered XC60. But either way, there’s no denying that it’s one hell of a car to look at. An R-Design model would look absolutely menacing…
There’s little doubt to our minds that the cabin of the V60 will look identical to the XC60, which in turn looks almost-identical to the larger Series-90 cars. That means a 9-inch portrait-oriented Sensus infotainment screen in the middle of the dash, less than 10-physical buttons on the centre stack, and an Orrefors crystal gear knob for T8 Inscription models.
On that, the powertrain options for the V60 are likely to mirror those on the XC60 to the letter. There’ll be two diesels, in D4 and D5 guises, with 140kW/400Nm and 173kW/480Nm respectively. Three petrol motors will also feature, namely the T5 with its 187kW/350Nm, the T6 with 235kW/400Nm, and then the massively-powerful and unbelievably-frugal T8 TwinEngine plug-in hybrid with 300kW, 640Nm, and all-wheel drive.
The all-new Volvo V60 has been confirmed for a February 21st debut, where we look forward to salivating over the release gallery.
