The new hot-hatch gets spotted with no camo at all.
American carmaker Ford has enjoyed generous praise for its hot Ford Focus variants, namely the ST and even hotter RS, throughout the years. The latest iteration of the Ford Focus ST wasn’t meant to be revealed just yet, as we’re sure that with the new platform & engines, there’d be a great amount of work that’d go into making it the most impressive Focus ST yet.
However, some high-res images have found their way onto the internets, snatched from a private forum. And we like what we see – we like it alot.
The new Focus ST wears its more mature styling proudly, with its honeycomb grille sitting proudly on the nose. There’s a new front bumper design that is different from the Focus ST that preceded it, though we did see a similar-ish design on the Focus ST-Line, which served as a pretty sizeable hint.
There are unique side skirts down the flanks, bookended by lovely graphite alloys in a not-overly-blingy design, which is nice to see. The bank end is all kinds of aggro with a multi-angled bumper replete with a sharp-looking diffuser element, while the roof features a relatively-discreet spoiler. Oh, and there are twin exhaust tips, of course.
We also get treated to a shot of the interior, where we can confirm that the Focus ST will continue to offer Recaro seats replete with ‘ST’ stitched badging, as has been the norm for the model over multiple generations (which Carscoops agrees with). As for power…
… there’s talk that it’ll use the very latest 2.3-litre EcoBoost mill, that’s presently used in the Mustang. Now the ‘Stang makes 224kW and 441NM here, but it’s unclear (and frankly unlikely) that the Ford Focus ST will carry those numbers.
Expect to see more when the Ford Focus ST debuts, whenever that is, as Ford has publicly announced that they won’t be attending the Geneva motorshow.
