Altogether a sharper little thing.
American carmaker Jeep has pulled the covers back on its newly-revised baby-SUV, the Renegade. Redesigned for the 2019 model year, the new baby off-roader has been given nips and tucks in various places to denote its newness, though the more significant changes are under the bonnet.
As for the aesthetics, the 2019 Renegade features a new fascia, incorporating a new grille with wider slats, full-LED headlights with daytime running lights (on top-spec models, naturally), a redesigned front bumper, new alloy wheel designs, a revised pair of taillights (similar in design, but now incorporating LEDs), a slightly tweaked rear bumper, and a numberplate on the tailgate.
Drivetrain-wise, there are more noteworthy changes. There’s a new range of three- and four-cylinder petrol mills, with the former represented by a 1.0-litre turbo (89kW), and the latter by a 1.3-litre turbocharged unit with either 112kW or 134kW depending on state of tune. No changes are expected to the gearbox or all-wheel drive system though, so expect either a five-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.
No mention was made of the Renegade Trackhawk though, or if the revisions will see the demise of the 2.4-litre atmo petrol mill and its unique 9-speed auto ‘box.
Precious few details more than that were revealed at the Renegade’s launch in Italy, where the car is primarily made. Regardless, as the car gets closer to local launch, we expect to glean more specifics, so stay tuned to CarShowroom as we bring you more updates as they come.
