Still the most stylish of the A-Class family.

German marque Mercedes-Benz has dropped some details on the all-new CLA-Class, which will be arriving in local showrooms sometime in the third quarter of the year. While they haven’t put a price tag on it, they have at least detailed the variants, with the CLA200 and CLA250 4Matic arriving for launch, with other options likely coming afterwards.

All CLA’s will be available locally as AMG-Line models with keyless entry and go, a multi-link rear suspension setup (praise the Lord), lowered suspension (by 20mm), and the all-important 64-way configurable ambient lighting setup. You get a cabin trimmed in Dinamica fibre and Artico not-leather, or you can also option for a fully not-leather Artico cabin.

You can opt for the AMG Exclusive package if you want Mercedes to relieve you of more money. To that end, the CLA should be a bit more expensive than the current generation, given the loss of the CLA180 which began the lineup at just under $50k. And while we’re overjoyed that the AMG CLA35 and CLA45 will be joining the range at a later date, we’re sad to see the CLA Shooting Brake not make it for another iteration. Boo.

Regardless, there’s no running away from the fact that a CLA is a cashed-up A-Class with an imaginative roofline and a more rounded rear. With that in mind, the A-Class hatch is already a very solid contender in and of itself which begs the question: Why bother?
