Only the manual Zen model retains its 0.9-litre donk.

Renault has decided that for the 2019 model year, the much-improved 1.3-litre engine that was first introduced in the Captur S-Edition would be utilised on all but the entry-level Captur models, bringing with it marked improvements in refinement, efficiency, and performance.

The 1.3-litre mill in question was co-developed with Mercedes-Benz (where it is currently employed in the A200), with 110kW and 250Nm on tap. That represents a 22kW and 60Nm improvement over the outgoing car and, paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic), it also manages to be 0.4L/100km more frugal (for a total 5.4L/100km claimed fuel consumption figure).

As we said earlier, the Captur Zen manual price-leader remains unchanged powertrain-wise, soldiering on with the same 0.9L turbo-petrol mill, putting out a pretty respectable 66kW and 135nm. The Zen wasn’t completely ignored though, which now gains Apple CarPlay & Android Auto for the 2019 model year.

The rest of the kit-list remains broadly similar, with parking sensors, satellite navigation, folding wing mirrors, and a reversing camera remaining standard fare across the board. Intens flagship cars get the usual shebang of LED headlights, all-round parking sensors, larger 17-inch dual-tone alloys, privacy glass, and a higher-fidelity audio system.
