The number ‘351’ is sacrosanct to Ford fans and FPV has confirmed that will be the power number for the special GT F model sedan set for launch in June. It goes without saying the FPV GT F will be the most powerful Falcon GT ever produced at the Broadmeadows assembly plant.
In fact 351kW is 16kW up on the previous benchmark high-performance Falcon – the GT-RSPEC from 2012.
To get that number, FPV has recalibrated the engine and transmission electronics for the 5.0-litre supercharged V8.
The peak power of 351kW is delivered at an ear-shattering 6,000rpm – music to the ears of Ford fans no doubt.
Peak torque will be 570Nm from 2,500-5,500rpm.
Of course the Bathurst-winning Falcon 351 GTs and GTHOs of the bygone era were famous for their orange colour schemes and Ford has confirmed the GT F will sport ‘GT F 351’ badges in – you guessed it – orange. Seeing the likes of Allan Moffat and Fred Gibson powering those orange GTHOs around Aussie race tracks remains a favourite childhood memory of your Car Showroom correspondent – and many of our peers.
Underneath, the Ford FPV GT F will boast 19-inch alloy wheels (9-inches wide at the rear), launch control and Brembo brakes.
The Ford FPV GT F is priced at $77,990 and orders for the limited edition model (and its Pursuit Ute sibling are filling fast.
